Body elongate and slender; front part of body slightly round cylinder-shaped and gradually compressed rearward; belly rounded; snout blunt and rounded, with a depression on back; mouth inferior; rostral skin not separated from upper lip and connected with lower lip at corner of mouth, forming a complete funnel-like mouth sucker; papilla arranged in rows in inner surface of sucker; lower jaw with horny front margin and small opening divided into two by a vertical valve on belly of lower jaw; rear groove of lip unconnected; eyes small, situated in rear of head and interorbital width widely separated; gill opening 2 pairs; pharyngeal teeth and barbells absent; lateral line scales 40-41; origin of dorsal fin opposite to central section between origins of pectoral and polvic fins; paired fins and anal fin small; caudal fin forked. Body color, in life, light black on back, white on belly, lack spots 8-9 on back and laterals sometimes two rows; with lines of dots on caudal fin and other fins gray.

喜栖伏于山区河溪底质多石的河流中。吸附在石块等表面，以附着藻类，植物碎屑等为食。6-7月河水猛涨时在溪流中产卵。捕获个体体长一般100-150mm。
