雄鱼头后不隆起。生殖季节雄性个体吻端突出呈钩状，颌状变强变黑。

The masu salmon (Cherry salmon) ,according to Zheng Baoshan (1980), spawning in the Tumen River occurs in August. The female constructs a nest and is attended by more than one male. She may spawn several times with different males, and then covers the eggs by beating the gravel with her caudal fin. The adult die affer mating in 2 or 3 days. The young divide into landlocked or migrating fish in the 2nd year.
